ChatITP evolved from an internal experiment at In The Pocket to become the company's third most-used application. The project demonstrated how thoughtful experimentation and user trust can scale an AI sandbox into a core productivity tool. I led the development and scaling strategy, focusing on iterative improvement and user-centered design.
The ChatITP journey exemplifies how internal AI experiments can grow into mission-critical tools when approached with the right mindset. Starting as a simple AI assistant sandbox, the tool gained traction through consistent user feedback and iterative improvements. Key learnings from the scaling process included: embracing all types of feedback (positive, negative, and absent), assuming the best intentions from users rather than over-engineering restrictions, and systematically investing in making the tool work reliably, perform correctly, and scale effectively. The success story highlights the importance of balancing experimentation with stability, and shows how internal tools can become competitive advantages when they truly solve user problems. The project required careful consideration of security, performance, and user experience as it transitioned from experimental sandbox to production-ready application used daily by hundreds of employees.
