Talk at De Standaard's Podcast Festival
A live demonstration for 200+ podcast creators showing how AI can transform podcasting workflows from ideation to publication. The session concluded that while AI excels at accelerating production tasks, fully AI-generated podcasts still lack authentic personality, particularly in Dutch. I co-presented with Sebastiaan Van den Branden, live-creating a podcast on stage to showcase AI capabilities and limitations.

The interactive session walked the audience through the complete podcast creation process, demonstrating AI applications at each stage. We covered idea discovery and research, where AI helped generate topics and gather relevant information; artwork creation using AI image generation tools; music composition and sound design through AI audio tools; post-production enhancement including noise reduction and audio optimization; and personalization techniques for targeting specific audiences. The live demo format allowed creators to see real-time AI assistance in action, but also revealed current limitations. The key insight was that AI serves as an excellent production accelerator and creative assistant, but struggles to replicate the authentic voice, cultural nuance, and personality that make podcasts engaging—particularly in languages like Dutch where the training data may be more limited. The session provided practical guidance for creators on integrating AI tools into their workflows while maintaining the human elements that define great podcasting.
