A keynote on why emerging technologies matter in today's digital landscape, delivered at ENGIE Belgium's Chapter Day. The talk argued that emerging tech offers better innovation opportunities than saturated traditional channels. I presented alongside colleagues Yannis Tenret and Bram De Coninck, focusing on practical applications and competitive advantages.
The presentation addressed three key themes for why organizations should invest in emerging technologies. First, with app downloads declining and social media markets saturated, emerging tech provides fresh opportunities to showcase innovation and reach audiences in novel ways. Second, in an age where AI capabilities are becoming commoditized, proprietary data and domain expertise represent sustainable competitive advantages that can differentiate organizations. Third, real impact comes from going beyond the technology itself—successfully turning raw data into relevant, actionable information, or leveraging 3D spatial computing to its full potential rather than just implementing it for novelty. The collaborative presentation with Yannis Tenret and Bram De Coninck allowed us to demonstrate these concepts across different emerging technology domains, showing practical applications and implementation strategies that ENGIE teams could adopt.
